The Wedding Quilt!

The wedding quilt was actually finished before the wedding!  I have not given it to them yet, so they haven't seen it unless they are reading my blog on their honeymoon, which I highly doubt!
I am really super happy with the way it turned out.  I am not sure these pictures do it justice but you'll get the idea :)

The pattern is called Eye Fooler by Spruce Creek Designs.  I began this quilt in a class at the Utah Quilt Guild's Quilt Fest a few years ago.  I used reproduction fabrics from my Dear Jane stash (don't worry I still have plenty of fabric to finish my DJ quilt!)  I really like the very scrappy, rather old-fashioned look.  The placing of the white/light shirting fabrics gives the illusion of some curved piecing but all of the seams are straight stitched.

I used Quilter's Dream Request batting which is their lightest weight batting and I love it!  It feels very soft and drapes very nicely.  I tend to over quilt and the bed quilts can be a little stiff, but this one is pretty nice :)

It is all machine quilted.  I quilted a large feather in the lighter areas and a stipple variation inside the "circle".  I used Superior's King Tut thread in a light tan variegated for the feathers and a darker tan variegated for the stippling.  In the border I used a blue/gray King Tut and did sort of a wavy cross- hatch pattern.

And then I held my breath, put the whole thing in my washing machine, along with a couple of Shout Color Catchers and a cap full of Retain and I washed it!  Phew!  The fabrics were all color-fast and the washing and partial drying really softened the quilt up.  Here I have it pinned out on my floor to block it.

It is nice to have it finished and I hope they enjoy using it!
Now I have a baby quilt I need to make - for someone else!

One of my new favorite things to eat, since peaches are in season, is whole wheat pancakes topped with fresh peaches and powdered sugar - DELICIOUS!

Have a great day and go buy some peaches!
