Sieglinde Schoen Smith

I saw this quilt several years ago at the Houston International Quilt Festival, and fell in love with it!  It's truly incredible.  It is now hanging at the Brigham City Museum in Brigham City, Utah through August 29th.

The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 11am - 6pm and on Saturdays from 1-5pm.
If you're up that way, it is worth a stop for sure.

The hand appliqué and embroidery detail on this quilt is almost beyond belief - it's so amazing.

Each scene in the quilt paints a beautiful picture.

Once Upon a Christmas Night is another fantastic quilt made by Sieglinde.  It also hung at the Houston festival. Once again, hand appliqué (needle turn) and hand embroidery.  Look at the border!!

A couple of days ago I posted pictures of Margarete Heinisch's quilts on display in this same exhibit.  She is the featured quilt artist and for your information she is teaching a workshop entitled "Painting With a Needle" at the museum on July 18th from 9am to 1pm, for only $25!  Wow, to learn from a master for only $25.  What an opportunity.
Also you can experience "Behind the Seams" Group Tours - special curator-lead tours - for $15 per person or $200 for a group of 15.
I just want to make something this spectacular someday :)
