A Day in Dublin!

Our Ireland trip has begun! Michelle and I got to Dublin at 5:00 AM this morning after a pretty much sleepless night on the plane. The plane was quiet, just the time change made it hard for us to get any sleep. I got a better nap than Michelle. Here we are outside our hotel about 6:00 this morning. Of course it was too early to check in so we dropped off our bags and hit the streets. It was nice to have the city to ourselves for awhile this morning.
One of our first stops was to see The Book of Kells at Trinity College, when they opened up at 9:30. You should google this if you want to know more. It was fascinating to see this about 1500 year old book of The Gospels written and illustrated by four monks.
While at Trinity College we also saw The Long Room. More information below. For a book lover like me, it was a feast for the eyes.

We met up with Oscar Wilde at Merrion Square.
I saw quilt designs everywhere!
And art!
We visited Dublin Castle.

And went to a Sung Service at Christchurch Cathedrahl which was absolutely beautiful.

We also toured the Cathedrahl, including the crypt! I will share more amazing pictures later!
It was the first time I used the toilet in a crypt, and fine by me if it's the last :)
We got gelato and ate it in St. Stephens Green. Note the sign in this picture just in front of the circle of flowers :)
Michelle humored me by eating brunch at the Winding Stair Book Shop. While we ate we watched people kayaking down the River Liffey. FUN day, but we are going on many hours now with little or no sleep so it's off to bed! Every time we sat down we started to fall asleep so we kept walking, 25,885 steps!
