Carriganass Castle

Tuesday morning we hiked in the Guagan Barra Forest Park. It was very pretty and full of midges (biting gnats) Luckily Larry, our guide, had bug spray. I think they are worse in the morning versus the evening.

Then we left Gougane Barra and headed for Kerry, with a stop along the way at the Carriganass Castle. We learned that there are about 15,000 castle ruins in Ireland.

This is Larry, our guide on the left. The man on the right was working at the castle. He had some pictures and one of them was of him and Maureen O'Hara who starred with John Wayne in The Quiet Man, which was filmed in Ireland years ago. Maureen O'Hara lived in Ireland, her house was pointed out to us on our boat ride to Garinish Island. Apparently she just passed away not too long ago and she was in her nineties. This man played us a tune from the movie on his accordion. A fun little bonus on our stop at Carriganass Castle!
Today was SO fun. Golf on the Dingle Peninsula and going to a working sheep farm! More on that later!
Have a great day!!
