Knitted Knockers

Last week I took a beginning knitting class from my friend Ann at Laura's Blacksheep Handworx Studio.

I've made it this far on my fingerless gloves and I'm having fun!  The second class is tomorrow so I will find out what to do next :)

So, being more curious about knitting, yesterday at the Embroidery Guild meeting I was sitting next to two women who were knitting and I asked them what they were making.

Reply:  A boob.
Naturally I said, "A what??"

It turns out she was knitting "knockers" for breast cancer survivors who either can't have or choose not to have reconstructive surgery, and can't afford or don't want other types of prosthetics.

She gave me this card and I thought I would pass it along to any other knitters out there!

I did a trunk show for the Embroidery guild yesterday and it was quite fun.  I did one a month ago for the Monument quilt guild.  I enjoyed getting all my quilts out and reliving the memories of making them.  It's probably time to give some more away!

Here are some pictures of a couple of show and tell items from the meeting yesterday - it was a fun day!
