Pixelated

There were several quilts at the Houston Quilt Festival this year that were pixelated.  Standing in front of the quilt, you couldn't always tell what the quilt was!  Just looking at these two, I couldn't tell it was a vase of flowers unless I stood way back, squinted my eyes or looked through the camera lens on my phone.  The one above is a large version of the same pattern.  The one below is a scaled down miniature version.

I Love Handwork!!

When I first saw this quilt at the Houston Quilt Festival, I thought "Wow!"  But then I got closer and WOW!!  Not only are there over 12,000 hand pieced hexes, check out all of the wonderful little hand embroidery tidbits all over the top of the quilt and along the binding!  Oh, and it's hand quilted too!  Still trying to figure out how it got a 3rd place ribbon instead of 1st place?  Amazing!! 👏❤️

 

Uzoma Anyanwu

Uzoma Anyanwu had a special exhibit at the quilt festival in Houston.  We got to meet him briefly.  I just think his art work is amazing.  I love how he creates people and faces with so many different and interesting fabrics!  Enjoy!
