Sleeping Bags for Dolls!

Granddaughter #1 has a birthday coming up next month!  She wants American Girl Doll camping stuff and when my friend gave me this pattern for doll sleeping bags, I knew they would go perfectly with her gift!  I used fabric in my stash and even had the zippers, thanks to Hi Fashion Fabrics moving sale years ago!  See, that stash does come in handy from time to time. 😊

Me... putting in a zipper... somehow I managed! Twice!

Nice and easy to follow instructions from Atkinson Designs! šŸ‘

Instructions for several different sizes included also!

N,O,P and R

A friend of mine ask for help in repairing a doll that was made by a friend for her daughter over 30 years ago. The doll need her "hair done", re-curled and sewn back in, in several spots.  After I finished I sent her this picture and told her the doll didn't appear too happy with me for having poked a needle in her head over and over!  My friend was happy though, to have her hair looking good again :)

I have been getting a small amount of quilting projects worked on lately!  Yesterday I was able to finish up the June TQS blocks for the A-Z With Ewe and Me quilt!  These are the four letters that I worked on this month.  You can see this whole unit only measures 8 1/2 x 12 inches.

I used some wool appliquƩ for the basket and added some little button embellishments on the flowers.

This month we were to sew everything we have done sew far together - so this is what the two I am making look like so far!  Some of my sashing looks a little crooked.... I may have to do some re-sewing or creative pressing.

Off to a quilt class today, to make a Beatle Bag!

Creative Dolls

There was an impressive doll display at the quilt festival in Houston too.  I always enjoy looking at them, they are quite creative!  I do not see myself making anything like them though in the near future.  The Yo-Yo animals and dimensional flowers are about as 3D as I get.  They are fun to look at though.  I am very impressed with the detail and creativity that goes into the making of these dolls.

My Mom

I love the expressions on their faces!
These little dolls reside in my sewing room and their cute little outfits were made by my Mom!  My Mom is one of the most talented people in the world!  When I was little, she made me a bunch of Barbie clothes and clothes for my Chrissy doll.  I still have them and they are so fun to pull out and look at because they include bell bottoms and fringed vests of the 60's and 70's - very cool!  If my kids want to see what I wore growing up, they can look at my Barbie's clothes :)
I cannot believe the tiny little sleeves and hems on these clothes.  When my daughters were young, she made Barbie clothes for them too, so we also

A couple of these little babies belong to my daughters

have the 80's and 90's represented, complete with crocheted gowns - absolutely beautiful. My Mom also knits, crochets, decorates cakes, paints - you name it, she can do it!  I have always been very amazed and impressed by her talent and her willingness to share it with others.  My youngest daughter takes after her as far as loving to try new things and learn new skills.  My oldest daughter is more like me, finding one or two things she enjoys and sticking with them.  Whichever way we are, I think God is pleased that we are trying to use the talents He has given us and sharing them with others.  Thank you Mom for being a good example of this to me!
