Mask Production

I think these are the best masks I've made yet!  These are for a teacher friend in Connecticut.  The teachers (and students) are heading back to school soon and many are requiring masks.  Hopefully these will be put to good use by her, and her friends and family. 😊
You can see I was catching up on all of The Quilt Show videos while I was mask making.
They're always a lot of fun!
Now that I've made it back into my sewing room, maybe I'll get those three quilts that I have pinned finished.  Baby Olivia is waiting for one of them. ❤️

Harmony

I love this video that was shared on The Quilt Show website today.
My favorite quote, "There is a harmony among quilters that the world could learn from."

Show and Tell at TQS

Today I'm sharing a few more photos from our taping experience at The Quilt Show.  During the breaks between filming segments, Alex Anderson's husband John does a great job of keeping the audience members entertained and happy.  One of the ways he does this is by showing quilts - which is always a treat!  Hope you enjoy these pictures!

Ricky Tims spoke to the audience about his quilts.

Barbara Black on TQS

Barbara Black, pictured above with John Anderson was the guest on the second show we saw taped at The Quilt Show taping a couple of weeks ago.  She has been doing online workshops and videos for their Block of the Month program for a couple of years now I think and she helped introduce the new BOM for 2020.  The quilts pictured here are the 2019 BOM designed by Becky Goldsmith.  Of course I can't reveal anything about the 2020 BOM 😊
Sworn to secrecy, I am....

You can find Barbara's blog here:
https://bbquiltmaker.blogspot.com

I actually got to be "on" the show - haha!  Another tall lady and myself were asked to help hold a quilt during the show because we are 5'8" or taller. This quilt is very large and made up of hundreds, or maybe thousands of tiny half square triangles!

The rest of these quilts were made by Barbara or her friends - this one is a miniature - you can see it in comparison to a larger quilt above.

The lady who made the bright blue quilt below was in the audience.  I can't remember her name, but if you watch the show you'll find out!

Karlee Porter on The Quilt Show

The first guest we saw at The Quilt Show taping was Karlee Porter, from Utah.  She was so fun and interesting and quite young and refreshing!  She started working for Handi-quilter right out of high school and has since taken the quilting industry by storm.  Machine quilting is definitely her thing and she has a style called Grafitti Quilting.  She has published several books and has started her own fabric company.  She designs on the computer and prints it out on fabric,  then does her fabulous matching quilting, such as on the quilt pictured below....

Here are some examples of her  Graffiti Quilting, and below is another whole cloth quilt - believe it or not!!

Go check out her website:

She teaches classes online too!!

Looks like quilted Zentangle!!

The Quilt Show Taping

I went to a taping of The Quilt Show last week and this time my husband Mike came with me!  He said he's seen how much fun I've had when I've gone before so he wanted to check it out for himself.  We had a great time!  He was one of only two men in the audience, so I kind of think they went out of their way to make sure he had a good time 😉. At lunchtime we sat next to the other man and his wife and it was fun to get to know them.  They are from Virginia but have family in Colorado so have a home here too that they spend part of the year in.  It was really fun to get to know several audience members.  One lady asked Mike if he was having a good time.  She wanted to know because her husband has been wanting to go and she wondered if she should bring him along or not.  We told her she should!

Mike got invited to go into the control room to watch them tape a segment.  He said it was really interesting.  I've never been invited to do this but both my husband and my daughter have!  I think I've gone to so many tapings they probably think I've surely been asked to do it before.

They tape two shows a day so you're asked to change clothes during the
lunch break so we look like a different, bran new audience.

They also give out door prizes throughout the day and MIKE won a door prize!  Of course he doesn't need it, so guess who got it??  He says I only invited him along to increase my chances of winning.  Not true, but it didn't hurt did it?? 😀

Thread Zap!

My friend Michelle gave me this Thread Zap for my birthday awhile ago and I am ashamed to say I am just now realizing how cool and amazing this handy tool is!  I am trying to finish up my Peep Party bag and I need to appliqué some decorative ribbons on the outside of the bag.  In the instructions it said to use a lighter to singe the ends of the ribbons so they wouldn't fray.  Instead I pulled out this handy dandy Thread Zap and presto zingo I had singed edges on my ribbons!  I'm afraid with a lighter I would've set my whole ribbon on fire!  I LOVE this!  Thanks Michelle - even though it took me awhile to catch on :)

You all know how much I love Polish Pottery.  Well I just about fainted when yesterday on The Quilt Show's Daily Blog I saw this Polish Pottery quilt.  OH MY GOSH!  Is this not amazing or what??  Most of the texture is created by crocheted lace!!  Please go read more about it and it's creator Chieko Shiraishi here:
