Swedish Weaving - The Next Level

My friend Lori sent me these pictures of the Swedish Weaving she has been doing recently.  The most amazing part is, she saw my post about this a couple of weeks ago, purchased the needed supplies, found some ideas on Pinterest and just went for it!  No class, no book.... She just figured it out from looking at pictures.  I am SO impressed!  These are beautiful!  Anyone who knows Lori though will not be surprised - her work is absolutely beautiful and so professional looking.  She makes it look so easy too - I don't know how she does that!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Happy Valentine's Day!  Look at this adorable tea towel my friend Pam made for me :). My hubby and I are shortly going out for breakfast with some neighbors - we decided not to brave the dinner crowds!

I was able to tame my embroidery threads with the Amazing Tape I mentioned in an earlier post.  Wow!  What a difference - I love this stuff.  Now my threads are nicely tucked into their zippered compartments and easy to see and find - and those loose threads aren't flying everywhere!
Thanks Doe for the tip!

Celebrating Christmas Little Bit Style!

Yesterday my miniature quilt group, The Little Bits, had our annual Christmas luncheon at Leota's house.  We had SUCH a good time, as always.  I just love these ladies :)

We started off with a delicious potluck salad luncheon, then moved on to Show and Tell.

This cute mini wall hanging was made by Leota.

Lois attended the glass jar class at June's last month and made this beautifully decorated jar.  The jar used to belong to her mother!  She said she's moved it several times and never knew why she kept it, but it was perfect for this project.

Eleanor has been busy with her embroidery machine and some classes she took at Hi Fashion.

She also completed her wool table runner from a class taught by June.

SSQ is doing Borders of the month instead of Blocks of the month this year and June made these wonderful scrappy "Braid" borders and gave us all the instructions.  She said it took longer to cut the strips than it did to sew them together.

Sherida brought her Hoffman Challenge award winning purse!  It traveled for a year and was displayed all over the country.  Apparently the new Hoffman Challenge is underway - I will have to go look it up online and see what the fabric looks like!

This purse is SO cute.

Sherida also made this adorable Christmas stocking for her sister's foreign exchange student who is from Korea.

AND (Sherida has been busy) she made this fantastic black, white and gold quilt - very geometric - I love it!

On a trip recently Sherida found these Zentangled notecards.  These are amazing!  I'm wondering if the artist zentangled them in a larger format and then reduced them on a copy machine?  If not, she must have very good eyesight :)  I love these.

This is all that was on the back of the card.  One might be able to google this and order some :)
We then exchanged Christmas gifts!  We drew names a couple of months ago - I had Eleanor and she had me!  She gave me this cute Redwork Mitten ornament kit, a tea towel that she embroidered on her machine and a handmade wooden needle case that is just beautiful - oh and some chocolate kisses.

It was a wonderful afternoon and absolutely delightful friends!

Oh, I have to tell an Annie story.  Max gave Annie a really pretty shawl that she had crocheted with soft wool yarn.  We were all oohing and ahhing over it and someone told Annie that she could snuggle up with it and take a nap.  Without missing a beat Annie said, "Well I will wear it to church and do just that!"

Sew Savvy Gardening

Gardening was the theme for the Sew Savvy club meeting at Hi Fashion last night.  Heather, Kari, Trista and Lorraine did an awesome job filling us up with great ideas, tips and new product information.  Show and Tell was awesome too, of course!
Trista made this pillow using her serger to make the lattice design.  She demonstrated how easy it was to do.

She also made this pillow, which I really like.  She machine embroidered the flowers and made them into a cute pillow, complete with crystals!

Another fun flower, garden themed pillow.  I believe Trista made this one as well.
Heather made these painted ceramic tile garden stakes for her mom for Mother's Day .... on the sewing machine!  She programmed the design on her Bernina (I think she said the program was called Design Works) and attached the color of Sharpie pins she wanted to use and the sewing machine draws the design on the tile!  Amazing. To make it permanent she baked them in the oven to set them.  She said that caused some "fumes" so she had to put her bird outside, which led to a very funny bird story....

Another pillow made by Trista.  One woman remarked that this pillow reminded her of those faux tuxedo shirts popular in the 1980's.  I thought, "Oh yeah!  I used to have one of those!"  Styles do come back around :) And then the "youngsters" think they invented it :)

More garden tiles made by Heather.

Kari modeling her "egg apron".  She has chickens so she made an apron to gather the eggs in.

Heather also made a garden bucket that was really cute but I forgot to get a picture of it.  You'll have to go check it out at the store.

Here is Lorraine's contribution which I LOVED because it's so easy (except for the embroidery part which I don't do).  This farmer's market bag is made from a tea towel.  She just sewed up the sides and boxed the bottom and voila!  No hemming or anything.  I bought a couple of tea towels to try it out but I didn't look closely at how she did the handles, so I'm going to have to look at this a little closer when I go in for my Foot Class on Tuesday.

They gave away several door prizes and I was the lucky recipient of these garden gloves, pack of seeds and a little LED lantern.  I already used the garden gloves this morning when I picked weeds in my yard.  Sew Savvy Club was more fun than picking weeds....

Tea Towels

My daughters and I went to the Home Machine Quilt show in SLC in May.  It was the first big quilt show my girls attended with me!  It was fun to walk around and look at the quilts and see what they like and don't like as far as quilt styles and colors etc.  Of course we had fun shopping at the vendors too! My youngest daughter bought some tea towels and a pattern and made them over Memorial Weekend.  Fun!
