Back to Birmingham!

OK, I am going to try to finish sharing pictures from the Birmingham Quilt Festival and the rest of our fun vacation (mostly as a little travel journal for me, before I forget!)

First - QUILTS!

This modern quilt was made by Kathleen Moore - it's called "Back to Black".  It was a 2nd Prize Winner.

Surprisingly, to me anyway, "Plain Jane - A Dear Jane Quilt" made by Anne Underhill, was also in the Modern Quilt category!  As most of us know Dear Jane quilts are reproductions of Jane Stickles' quilt made in 1863! What is old is new again...

Another Modern Quilt by Maureen Talbot
"Circle of Life"

I love this quilt!  I love quilts with houses, villages, etc. on them and this is embellished with wool and embroidery - right up my alley!

This modern quilt looks very modern in every way to me, including the quilting which I love.

"Free Wheeling" was made by Tracey Pereira

The quilt below, Rainbow, was made by Olga Hornillos Justa - Modern Quilt category.
Beautiful colors!

The quilt above, "Narrow Geese Around" was Highly Commended!  (I love the quilting!) It was made by Iva Steiner (Modern Quilt)

To the right, another modern quilt by Sophie Zaugg, "Retro".  Cool design and colors!

Below:  More amazing quilting on another modern quilt "Catch a Falling Star" by Anna Williams

Above: "The Village, A Fantasy ... Words by Jane"
by Iminei - Pictorial category (I told you I like quilts with houses :)

Left: Another pictorial quilt, "Indian Chief" by Adriana Briones Calleja
Click on this picture to make it larger - this quilt is really something!

More beautiful quilt pictures in the days ahead!  Are you inspired yet??

After we left Birmingham, we headed back to London, spent the night there, then caught a bus the next morning for Southhampton, where we boarded the Sapphire Princess for a cruise to beautiful Norway!  The Sapphire Princess is an English ship and most of the passengers were from England, with many also from Canada, the USA, Australia and Spain.  We had loads of fun meeting people from all over and learning about where they came from and where they've traveled :)

First stop in Norway - Stavanger.
More tomorrow!
