Joan Musick

Joan Musick was the presenter at the CO West Quilt Guild meeting the other night. She brought many fun quilts to show!  Several were themed for children such as this one which pairs with a book that she authored (pictured below).  The book is actually two books in one:  The Missing Flower Tops on one side, then flip it over and the second story is called The Midnight Snack (which has to do of course with the missing flower tops :)  The quilt visually tells the story as well.  It was fun to hear how she gets her ideas and goes about her design process.

She also had these fun quilts, one for a girl and one for a boy. There is a child in a different "costume" in each corner and the glasses or goggles are organza so the child could put the blanket over his or her head and see through the goggles or glasses.  So cute!

A fluffy, furry dog wall hanging - made with eyelash yarn.

A new spin on an I SPY quilt....

A portrait quilt of her dog - the one who ate her fabric binder - funny story :)

I'm going to be a grandma, as you know, so I was quite interested in all of her fun stuff for children!  She also had some great miniature quilts which I will share tomorrow.

Happy Saturday!!
