Day 15

Day 15 - Whipped Woven Circle, Couching and Chain Stitch.  I can't believe we're on Day 15 already!

Here are pictures of my "clean" sewing room!  And the piles of stuff I'm getting rid of!  It still feels nice to walk in there.  Tomorrow I'm going to pin a quilt and get it ready for quilting - and try to finish my Gnome pillow 😊

Still pretty stuffed, but at least everything has a some place to be tucked into.
This is one cupboard that needs a little more cleaning and organizing.

I can actually see the top of my quilting machine!
And this cupboard used to be overflowing with fabric!

Here is where all the fabric is now!

I can see the top off my cutting table now too!
And these are the "to go" piles!
Hurray!! 😊

Day 12 and Day 2

Day 12 of the Circle Stitch with Sue Spargo!  The stitches today include: Bouillon Rose, Bouillon Loops, Crested Chain and Pistil Stitches.

I almost didn't get it done today, because I was so busy working on DAY TWO of the sewing room purge.  Pictures to come!  I'm pretty excited.  I think I've reduced my fabric stash by at least 1/3, maybe more.

Enjoy these last few photos of the projects began in the Santa Fe class!

Transformed

I spend most of the weekend getting blocks prepped for the Christmas quilt I'm working on.  I decided, finally, after owning this book for many years, to make the Welcome to the North Pole quilt!  I'm using wool for the background and a combination of wool and cotton for the appliqué.  I wanted to get the patterns all traced and ironed onto the appropriate fabric while I had it all out (see photo above!).

Slowly but surely the background pieces came off the design wall as I got the parts for each block prepared - sixteen blocks in all.

Kind of makes me excited for Christmas!!

My friend Kim (we've been friends for over 50 years!!) gave me a gift card to The Container Store for my birthday (thank you Kim!!). I used it to buy a white board and a basket for my sewing room - to help me get more organized.  When Katie Fowler was in town last month she showed a white board in her sewing room that had "Now", "Sooner", "Later" and "Future", with project sticky notes stuck in each category.  I hung mine up today and the sticky notes are piling on!

The basket is for the "Now" projects that I'm currently working on, which makes the top of my cutting table oh so much neater (see bottom picture).

I also bought a small bathroom organizer and just spent the entire afternoon organizing my drawers in the bathroom 😊. I hope you've also had a productive day!

It's been kind of windy lately, in the evenings.  If I didn't know any better I might think that I left the window open in my quilting studio!  It does look like a strong wind blew through.  I've started a new project and it may be a couple of days yet before I can "tidy up".  Look for a hint in the photo below and see if you can guess what holiday the new project is  based on?

Getting Inspired

Above is the quilt I received from the International Miniature Quilt Exchange! I was paired up with Deb from Canada and she made me this beautiful cone flower quilt! It’s so pretty, I love it! It was a fun challenge/exchange to participate in 😊 Especially “meeting”, via email, a new friend. Thank you Deb!!

Shirley (left) and Cecelia (right) finished their English Paper Pieced hexagons from my class last week!

Cecelia taught the needle punch class. She made these two wool mats, one with wool appliqué and one with needle punch. It was fun the see the difference side by side. I really like them both! She does such nice work!

I think we are way past due for some pictures of my cutie pie granddaughter, right? Isn’t that a grandma’s duty, to share lots of pictures of their grandchildren? 😊💕

She fixed her own hair!

We fell in love with this puppy, but could not take him home. I hope he finds a loving family!
FYI - didn’t take the pony home either!

Ricky Tims Exhibit

I took a few pictures of the Ricky Tims Exhibit at the AQS show in Paducah.  Can you guess which one is his first quilt?  He hand dyes his own fabric - the quilts are colorful and stunning :)
