New Project

I'm starting a new project.... even though I still have others I need to finish 😬

I just couldn't resist!  I ordered this Anna Maria fabric and pattern for the Bespoke Quilt No. 1 and it's SO pretty!  I don't have a lot of time to work on it right now, but I did make the first four blocks 🥰

A Break ...

A little break from boring vacation photos 😂
I started a new quilt!  I've been eyeing Jennifer Sampou's log cabin patterns with her ombre fabrics for awhile now and I finally broke down and bought the pattern and some fabric to make one!  After making the first two blocks (I had to unstitch and re-do half of one of them), things are going a little bit smoother now.  I love the fabric - this lavender deepens to a dark purple as you go along the 42 inch length.  It's like having multiple colors in one piece, which hopefully will make the quilt much more interesting (if I do it right!)

Eight of the 16 blocks need to be high contrast like this one.

I stitched Leaf #26 this morning!  That means we're already half way through 2025!  🤪  If it looks like my tree isn't half way done, it's because I added a few more than the 52 leaves.

Happy Quilting!!

Collector or Quilter??

I became slightly obsessed with Tilda fabric a couple of years ago. Now I have quite the stash and I want/need to make something with it!  I'm looking for great Tilda fabric pattern ideas, so if you have any great patterns that would enhance this beautiful fabric, please leave a comment below! 😊❤️

And Finally... My Girlfriends!!

I love this Quilt Shop!  We have family in Logan so I get to go there every once in awhile.  Their bucket list theme was "A Summer in Paris".  All the employees were dressed really cute with black and white striped shirts and colorful berets.  If you spent a certain amount you got a free pair of Eiffel Tower scissors!  I knew exactly who to give those too.  My eight year old granddaughter loves everything French and Paris.  She was thrilled to get them 😊

Could a shop be more inviting??

They even had Man Bags for the hubbies - with a water bottle and a Mr. Goodbar!!

We missed the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point, but we saw some beautiful tulips anyway ❤️

Next Stop - Quilts Etc.

I wasn't quite as clear on what the bucket list item(s) were at Quilts Etc. in Sandy, UT, but they had this booth set up where you could throw a football into one of the holes.  If you got it in on the first try you won a prize.  I got it in!..... on the sixth try 😂

I bought this pattern!  I love this quilt - it's made of mostly Tilda fabrics and I have some!  I'm excited to make it 😊

Another bucket list item to check off was getting a tattoo in this cute little booth.  They were rub on tattoos and all sewing related, but I didn't take the time to get one!

Sleeping Bags for Dolls!

Granddaughter #1 has a birthday coming up next month!  She wants American Girl Doll camping stuff and when my friend gave me this pattern for doll sleeping bags, I knew they would go perfectly with her gift!  I used fabric in my stash and even had the zippers, thanks to Hi Fashion Fabrics moving sale years ago!  See, that stash does come in handy from time to time. 😊

Me... putting in a zipper... somehow I managed! Twice!

Nice and easy to follow instructions from Atkinson Designs! 👏

Instructions for several different sizes included also!

Canyonland Quilts

While in Moab, Utah a couple of weeks ago my husband spotted a van parked in the parking lot of a warehouse area that had Canyonland Quilts advertising all over it.  We decided to circle back around and investigate and found a wonderful quilt store, tucked in amongst all of the warehouses!

You can see that I found something to purchase - not hard in this fabulous shop! 😊

Oh Scrap!  It's almost Halloween! 😂

I met the owner and she told me they are having a quilt retreat early in 2022 at one of the hotels in Moab.  They are looking for attendees and also for teachers still!  Her information is pictured below if you are interested in either.  Next time you're in Moab, check out her shop!
Have a wonderful Sunday ❤️❤️

Daisy Do Progress

I made a huge mess today choosing fabrics for more Daisy Do flower blocks.  I'm appreciating quilt-making in my grandmothers' era, tracing templates and hand piecing!  I enjoy the hand piecing - tracing the templates... not so much....

I am finding that these fat quarters with four different fabric designs in each fat quarter are coming in really handy for the size and amount of pieces that I need!  Clever idea, whoever thought of this!

Below are the blocks that are almost finished.  Not a great picture with my carpet as a backdrop, but you kind of get the idea.  I'll try to get a better picture next time.  I think I need to make 46 of these!  I'm still trying to figure that out.  I'm also trying to choose fabrics with more contrast this go around. 😊

Progress

I am making progress on my Patchwork of the Crosses (PTOC) quilt.  The appliqué is going pretty quickly in the evenings.  I'm so glad I decided to appliqué them on a block background vs. more hand piecing .😬

It's only Tuesday, so it hasn't been a long week quite yet, but anytime is a good time to go buy fabric, right?? 😁

Great Wall

I finished putting together my Great Wall quilt top this week!  I love it!  It's pretty big - a queen size.  I just think the Cherrywood Fabrics are just so pretty and nice to work with. Hmm... now quilt as desired .... ??

The photo of the week challenge was Nuts and Bolts. I went out to our garage and took a bunch of pictures.  I edited the one above in InstaToon and BeCasso.  I submitted the BeCasso photo at the bottom (#3 of these three photos).

No editing necessary for this picture of my granddaughter on St. Patrick's Day, wearing her sweater from Ireland! 🍀😊❤️. Doesn't this smile just brighten your day?  Have a lovely weekend.

Well I had some big permed hair in the 80's and big glasses, so I was able to get my first vaccine Wednesday!  Yeah! I had a horrible headache on Thursday that put me out of commission for the whole day.  I'm not sure if it was a reaction to the vaccine or not, but either way I'm feeling great today and happy to have one down and only one to go. 😊

I've been working on my Cherrywood quilt and was able to get all 148 blocks sewn - just finished the last few today!  Next week sometime I plan to lay them out and sew them together!

Dog Ears are like Cellulite....

My friend Sheila just finished the quilt top above.  It looks like a LOT of work, but so pretty.  I need to do something like this with all of my leftover Civil War fabric.

I started a new quilt with Cherrywood hand dyed fabric that I'm quite excited about.  I love Cherrywood fabrics - they're so soft and pretty.  I think this quilt is going to be soft, pretty and fun!  All of the blocks are constructed the same, but with so many different colors!

Here are a couple of quotes from Kimberly Einmo, that I saw in the American Quilter magazine:

"Dog ears are like cellulite.  They leave lumps and bumps in places you don't want them!"

and

"No matter how alert you think you are, never, ever trim or square up your blocks after 9PM.  You will end up making mistakes late in the evening, and it just isn't worth the risk.  Ask me how I know.  It is much better to wait to square up your units when you are fresh, rested and there is a good natural light.  Trust me on this one."
