Another Flashback

Another flashback to a quilt I made not too long ago!  Pattern by Jen Kingwell 😊

This story below reminds me of when my daughter went skiing in Utah many years ago and afterwards called me and said, "Mom, do you know who Robert Redford is?"  I was shocked that she didn't!  She informed me that she had ridden the ski lift up with him and his friends and they all thought it was funny that she didn't know who he was! 😂

Two Finishes!

I finished two small wall hangings this weekend, both of which I've been working on for a year!  This is my finished Leaf the Week Behind.  It was a lot of fun to work on. 😊

The second finish I can't share yet because it's the "lite" BOM from Sue Spargo for 2025 and the book is not out yet.  It turned out so cute though!  I'm excited about it.  This was the first BOM designed by her daughters Kelly and Aimee. 👏

I just happened to have this leaf fabric that was perfect for the back.

There's a Mouse in the Tree!

I've been stitching on Leaf the Week Behind and Birdie - trying to finish those two up before starting Sue Spargo's new BOM Kith and Kin!!

Three New Wool Projects

I'm starting three new wool projects in 2025!  The first one, above, is an advent calendar from Midway Wool with these cute little stockings.  I'm actually making two of these so that's technically four new wool projects!

I signed up for Birdie - Sue Spargo's "light" block of the month for 2025.  I received the first block and threads today!  I won't be able to share pictures of this for a while!

I'm also following West Coast Wool's Leaf the Week Behind project.  I received the kit for that this week and am trying to get the background and tree all tacked down, then every week she'll post a different embellished leaf on Instagram and in her newsletter.  I think tomorrow is leaf #3 so I need to get caught up!

I normally pin baste my wool pieces but the tree trunk and branches just wanted to go every which way, so I thread basted it.  Hopefully that will make the whip stitching a little easier!

I was so excited to have time in my sewing room yesterday and today!  Woohoo!

I cut a bunch of leaves for the tree also.  Look how stained my pressing boards are! Oh well, they're well used and well loved.... ❤️

Happy Quilting!! 🥰

Burrows and Boughs

Another finish!!  I finished quilting and binding my Burrows and Boughs block of the month quilt by Jen Kingwell.  This one was a bit of a challenge, but I love the way it turned out!  I'm pretty happy with the quilting too 😊

Tula's Butterfly Quilt

Another finish!  This quilt was SO fun to make.  I bought the kit a long time ago and was inspired to get going on it when I saw my friend Sheila's in the local quilt show in April.  The blocks were fun to piece and went together pretty quickly.  I loved the quilting on Sheila's SO much that for the first time in 25 years or so I paid someone to quilt one of my quilts!  I'm so glad I did, I LOVE the way it turned out.  Cheryl Bradford quilted it for me. 👏😊

Happy Fourth of July!  Have a great weekend! 🇺🇸❤️

A Finish!!

I haven't been blogging but I have been QUILTING! 👏

I pinned two quilts not long ago, this one Caution Curves Ahead (Jen Kingwell BOM) and Queen of Diamonds (Pink Door Fabrics BOM).  I have been quilting like crazy and I got them both done!  I'll share a picture of Queen of Diamonds once I get a good one taken.

While I was quilting these two, I took my Tula Pink Butterfly quilt to a longarm quilter and once I get the binding sewn on it will be done too!  So exciting to get things finished because now ..... I can start something else! 😂❤️

The top quote .... yes

I got my Burrows and Boughs quilt top put together!  Yeah!

I better take this call! 😊

It's Been Awhile!

It has been way too long since I've posted anything!  I'm going to try to be more consistent!
Here are a couple of catch up items!
Top photo, I've joined the 2024 Block of the Month through Quiltfolk. It's all about improv piecing and designing your own quilt, which will be a great stretch for me!  I'm looking forward to it.

These two photos show a very cool tape measure cover that my friend Ann made - so fun!!

This is not my Indigo Vases (I wish!). I saw this on Instagram and saved it for inspiration because I do hope to finish mine in 2024!! 🤞

Stay tuned for more....

Port Pillows

I was asked to make (or partially make) 50 port pillows for a church service activity this week.  They are tiny pillows that velcro around your seatbelt to cushion the port area for chemo patients.  At the activity they will stuff them and sew the end closed, then package them with notes of encouragement and chocolates.  Here they are all sewn and ready to be stuffed!  If you know someone you want to make one for, there are YouTube videos with good instructions.

I am currently working on sewing the Queen of Diamonds quilt top together!  This may take awhile!  I have to take the papers out of all of these blocks, starch and press, then sew a little border around each one, THEN cut more diamonds and add the sashing.  Having fun though!!

Queen of Diamonds

I got all of the blocks English Paper Pieced together for my Queen of Diamonds quilt!  Now it's time to add the sashing and sew the quilt top together!  Woohoo!!

We were EXCITED to welcome a new grandson into our family this past weekend!! He is SOOOO cute!! 🥰

Burrows and Boughs

I got caught up on my Jen Kingwell BOM and now I'm trying to catch up on the Tula Pink Queen of Diamonds!  (These bunnies were rather hard to hand appliqué by the way!)

Queen of Diamonds

Part of what I did at the retreat was catch up on the Queen of Diamonds BOM!  I love how this is turning out! 😊

Caution Curves Ahead!

I've been working on this quilt all year, as a block of the month with Jen Kingwell (from Australia).  I had a tub of fabrics I was choosing from, a combination of Jen Kingwell fabrics, Alison Glass, Tula Pink, and others.  Each month I would make the blocks and then put them away in a little storage box.  I wasn't really sure how it was all going to look when I put it together, but I did this weekend and I love it!  It's a very happy quilt and it was a LOT of fun to make!  It's hand pieced and machine pieced and all the appliqué is done by hand.  Now I need to find a cute backing fabric and quilt it! 😊
