My daughter told me that her boys wanted to get out all the quilts and hear all the stories behind them, why they were made and for whom etc. How fun! I'm so glad they're interested!
Here they are revisiting their baby quilts 🥰

I bought a kit to make a quilt that looked kind of like vinyl records. I had to buy a ruler to make that quilt and the ruler came with this pattern which I ended up liking better! So with that kit I made two baby quilts using the other pattern. I love the fabric and the way they turned out!
I've had the tops pieced for several weeks but finally got them quilted over the weekend and binding sewn down today. Yay!! 😊👏
Look at this adorable baby quilt Rena made! It turned out SO cute! This is definitely on my to-do list 🥰
I decided to go ahead and stitch all of the leaves on my tree, just so I don't get them all embellished and then wish I could move some. I debated about doing this, because at first I thought I would just stitch down one each week and then embellish it, but I'm glad I have them all stitched down and can see the "big picture". We'll see how it goes!
I'm getting very close to finishing all of the blocks on the advent calendars! I just have "B" - bell and "A" - angel to go. Look how darn cute the Elfs turned out!
I realized that I didn't post pictures of the finished baby quilt, for our new grandson, arriving next week!! We're so excited!! 🥰👏❤️😊
My son loved John Deere tractors when he was growing up, so years ago I came across some fabric with little green tractors on it and bought a half yard to use "someday". Well now he and his wife are expecting a baby boy and I thought it would be the perfect time to make a baby quilt and use that fabric. I came across Elizabeth Hartman's Fab Farm pattern and decided that would be the perfect pattern to use. I made her Dinosaur quilt pattern when our first grandson was born and I LOVE her patterns, a lot of pieces to cut and sew together but they go together so nicely and turn out really cute!
Here are the first few blocks of the fab farm. I've yet to use the green tractor fabric but I have to work it in somewhere!
Last week we got to go celebrate this little Ladybug's birthday! 🐞🎂
And this little smiley guy's baby blessing! ❤️
While visiting my Dad, I almost completed my Daisy Do quilt top! I still need to sew the borders on.
My morning walks are getting a little darker, but I saw a wonderful full moon this morning!
Hope you're having a wonderful day!! 😊
Here are the last pictures that I took of the quilts at the quilt show in Meeker, CO. At the bottom, you'll see my progress on Daisy Do 😊.
Happy Sunday!!
I've been preparing a new hand piecing project - another Jen Kingwell pattern called Daisy Do. This will be a baby quilt for Granddaughter #2, making her debut later this year! 🥰
We recently got to go on a little shopping expedition with Granddaughter #1. See the shoes in the picture below, all sparkles and bling? "I only like these shoes Grandma!" 😂
It's getting close to the time our second grandchild will be born! He is due this month! Over the weekend we had a family baby shower for my daughter, which was really a lot of fun. She got a lot of cute things - this baby will be well dressed! 😊❤️
My friend Pam does machine embroidery and made these adorable onesies and bib. She does amazing work - I'm SO impressed!!
This dinosaur quilt is what I've been working on the past few months. I didn't want to share too many pictures of it until after the shower. It is a pattern called Dinosaurs by Elizabeth Hartman, and it went together so slick. That lady knows her math - and how to write a pattern!
One of my daughter's nieces made these adorable sugar cookies. They tasted as good as they look!!
Fun Times!! Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend!! 😊🇺🇸
I've been quilting this week! I quilted "The All Together Quilt" that you may have read about in a previous post. My granddaughter designed it, my daughter made it and I have now quilted it. I decided to do my new favorite quilting design - The Paisley Feather! It doesn't show up real well on this quilt, but I had SO much fun doing it.
One thing I noticed though, when I'm quilting, is that I scrunch up my face, hunch my shoulders etc. I think I'm almost grimacing 😬, even though I really was enjoying it! I would even consciously tell myself to RELAX, relax my shoulders, relax my quilting face and ten seconds later I'd be all scrunched up again. 😠 😳. I wonder, does anyone else make a quilting face when they quilt? 🤔 Leave a comment because I'd really love to know!
After reading The All-Together Quilt, by Lizzy Rockwell, with my granddaughter, we decided to make a quilt together, with my daughter Megan (her Mom) for her new baby brother, who is coming this summer!
We decided to use the Disappearing Nine Patch pattern. (Megan said she liked how it looks complicated but was really easy, and quick to make. It took the three of us just one afternoon to piece the quilt top.) I cut a bunch of squares and my granddaughter arranged them in nine-patch blocks. She then decided, on her own, to write the numbers 1-9 so the "Sewist" (Megan) would remember what order they go in.
Here is she labeling the squares in the right order. I'm impressed!
Mom Megan sewing all the squares together!
The pattern then had us cut the big nine-patch blocks in half in both directions. Granddaughter did NOT like this part and at this point wanted to change the pattern. Some of us quilters are pattern/rule followers and some of us like to change things up and really can't stand to follow a pattern exactly. It appeared that Grandma and Mom are of the first variety of quilters and Granddaughter is going to be of the second variety 😂. But, unfortunately for her, this time, it was 2 - 1 and the blocks were cut! After Mom Megan arranged them on the design board, Granddaughter decided she really liked it after all! 😅
Megan sewed the blocks together, I handled the pressing, a border was added and VOILÁ, a beautiful quilt was made because we all worked together! ❤️
The quilt is pinned and ready to be quilted by me (Grandma)! Brother is going to love it! It has a lovely soft Homespun on the back! I think we need to make some more All-Together quilts! 😊❤️
