The Flower Pot

A few weeks ago I posted a picture of a basic flower pot that we were supposed to have ready before we went to Sue Spargo's class.  Our ultimate goal is to end up with something like this!  This is Sue's.  She taught us many, many techniques to help us have fun, play, and be creative, so ours won't look exactly like hers or anyone else's, but be uniquely our own.

This is also Sue's - she did lot of demonstrations on this piece.

Here is mine after the first day!

She did an exercise where she had us cut out shapes from a piece of paper and play with the design a bit, adding more elements.  Towards the end of the second day we got to walk around the class and see what ideas others were coming up with.  It was really, really fun to see everyone's creativity. Following are pictures of their work.

She did a demonstration where I learned to look at fabric in a completely different way to add to the design of these flowers - like the center of this flower, which is fabric with stitching on top.  She likes to use a lot of Kaffe Fassett fabrics for this purpose.

Sue demonstrated how to make lady bugs and bees. I can hardly wait to try it!!

Here is mine at the end of the second day.  I've already changed a couple of things I didn't really like!

We learned about about making and embellishing stems! (Above)

Tons of creativity and endless fun!!  I've been working a little bit more on mine today - once I sorted through all of my thread.  She uses a lot of size 5 Pearl Cotton and size 8 and some size 3, as well as a lot of specialty threads.  It's like eye candy - really....
