Perseverance is the Word of the Day!!

This is what I saw on my walk this morning!
The lesson for me is - when you're stuck on something or trying to do something difficult or challenging - keep trying!  Don't give up!  And have a GREAT day :)

Happy Memorial Day!!

What a beautiful day it was to remember all who have served our country. I am very thankful for the freedom we enjoy, because of those who served.  It was wonderful to see so many flags flying in our community today - what a lovely sight!
This quilt won 2nd Place in the Quilting Treasures Quilts of Valor Challenge 2017.  It was made by Julie Bauer from Ogden, Utah.

In the Jungle, the Mighty Jungle...

We LOVED The Lion King Cherrywood Challenge quilts displayed at the UQSM in Salt Lake a few weeks ago.  Too bad you cannot better see the expression on my granddaughter's face in the photo below, it was a visual feast for the eyes!  Nothing like she had ever seen before! As you can see, a lot of them were displayed at her eye level too, which made it even more fun.

I didn't take pictures of all of them - just a few.  If you get a chance to see this exhibit somewhere, it's well worth it.

"Our luscious hand-dyed fabric was the inspiration for quilters to take a challenge fit for a king! Participants were inspired by the stunning artistry, vibrant colors and exhilarating choreography of Broadway's Award-Winning Best Musical THE LION KING.  We are thrilled to be working with Disney Theatrical Group on this project.  LION KING will be celebrating their 20th Anniversary in November 2017. They would like to display a selection of quilts at the Minskoff Theater on Broadway overlooking Times Square!  Over 300 entries were received!  The quilts represented a wide variety of techniques, interpretation and skill levels - all held together by the cohesive color, size and suede texture of the fabric!"

Look at the little landscape scene in his eye!  I almost missed this little detail - one of my daughters had to point it out to me.

THE LION KING is the second Cherrywood challenge, the first was WICKED.  The third challenge is VAN GOGH and those quilts are due by August 1, 2017.  I may have to check into the challenge in 2018 - it sounds fun!  To read more about them go to:
