Oriental Friendships
Made by Ruth Ewers.  Her artist's statement said this was a row quilt exchange and her theme was oriental.  She said the rows came in horizontal but she re-designed it and picked the blocks apart to re-assemble them vertically.  There is a quilt hanging behind it so it is difficult to see that it has a unique shape.
It was quilted by Julie Thorum.

The Quilt Fairy
Made by Anne Jacobson.  She used many methods to make her original art quilt: piecing, fusible appliqué,  hand appliqué, embroidery, embellishments, machine embroidery and some fabric painting.  She also quilted it herself for her first time on a long arm!  She said there are many pictures hidden in the quilting.

Purple Houses
Made by Adeline Parkin from a pattern she found in Quilter's Newsletter magazine.  She did the machine quilting herself.  Neat design and beautiful work!

Desert Rose
Made by Lorri Bashein.  She used the puff quilt technique for the bustle.  The face, hands and hair were a combination of freezer paper and needle turn appliqué.

Grandmother Karin's Flower Garden
Made by Karin Lee Crawford.  This quilt is hand pieced, appliquéd and embroidered and embellished with 160 hand-pressed glass leaves!
She says the flowers in her garden are her grandchildren.  The quilt took 10 years to complete and was quilted by Sue McCarty.

Write Your Own Music, Sing Your Own Song
Made by Kaye Evans.  She says an idea was born for this quilt and she had to create what she envisioned.  She says to follow your dreams and live your ideas!

This quilt won 1st place in the Best Art Innovative category.

Midnight in the Cathedral II
Made by Helen Meck.  This is an interesting twist on the Cathedral Window pattern, using a dark fabric instead of the traditional muslin background.  She said she used her scrap fabric and didn't repeat any of the colored fabrics once!

Coxcomb En Pointe
Made by Josephine Keasler.  Her artist's statement said that this is a personal variation of Judy Niemeyer's original Coxcomb pattern.  The quilt was quilted by Kim Petersen and won 2nd place in the Best Appliqué category.

Smoking Dope
Made by Pamela White.  Interesting name, and her artist's statement doesn't explain why she called it that!  She said she used mostly Kaffe fabrics in a class taught by Kaye Evans and each month she learned a new technique, or a new way to make a traditional block.  She designed and hand appliquéd the border and it was quilted by Carol Rawson.

Ribbons and Checkerboard
Made by Corinna Weir.  A lot of techniques and inspiration went into the making of this quilt!  She used two layers of batting, Hobbs silk and wool and she quilted it herself.  Very eye catching!
