The beautiful works of art were all winners at the Denver Quilt Show.

Tatted Hearts won Best Hand Workmanship - Innovative.  It is an original design, hand appliquéd, machine pieced and hand quilted by Cheryl See of Ashburn, VA.  In her artist's statement she said that hand quilting does not have to be traditional and that this contemporary quilt has both vintage embellishment (20 yards of her great grandmother's hand tatted lace and doilies) and modern bling (1,980 Swarovski crystals).

Tulip Serenade, made by Barbara Clem of Rockford, IL won second place in the Traditional category. It is hand appliquéd, machine pieced and hand quilted.

Portlandia, by Mary Kay Price of Lake Oswego, OR won the Quilter's Newsletter Editor's Choice award.  It is a machine pieced, machine quilted, original design.

Butterflies in My Garden by Mardi Carter of Estes Park, CO won Best Colorado Quilt.  It is a machine appliquéd, pieced and quilted original design.

Big Bang by Becki Dunham of Farmington, NM won Third Place in the Innovative category.  It is a machine pieced and machine appliquéd original design and was professionally long arm machine quilted by Teresa Fetch.  I think the quilting is amazing.

Frog in Fallen Leaves by Laura Ruiz of Malabar, FL won second place in the Wall Quilt category.  It is machine appliquéd and quilted and the frog is painted.  She used a photo taken by Thomas Marent for inspiration.

From a Sow's Ear to a Silk Purse by Janee Brewer of Littleton, CO won Best Colorado Wall Quilt.  In her artist's statement she said that she bought crocheted doilies for $5.00 at a yard sale awhile ago and didn't know what to do with them until she took a class from Cindy Needham.  She used silk dupioni fabric, poly and silk thread and the quilt is machine pieced and long arm machine quilted.

Have a great day!!
