It is in the old Whiting Mills building, which we were told, used to be a hosiery manufacturing plant (they made long underwear during the world wars). Now one of the buildings is apartments and this building is an artists' community.
The quilt store was in here, as well as an upholstery shop, wood working, model train store, photography, painting studios - pretty much everything! It was a lot of fun walking around and looking at all the different shops and studios.
The lady who owns The Quited Ewe also owns three sheep! Look at all of this wool roving! Not all of it came from her three sheep, but some of it did.
Here is the owner cutting the bicycle fabric that I bought :)
Here is my hubby, patiently waiting....
Quilted Ewe participates in the Row by Row Experience, which I had never heard of but the owner explained to me.
The Row by Row Experience is a virtual shop hop! No passports, no fees.
Row by Row began in 2011 with 20 shops and in 2014 over 1250 shops in 34 states participated. She said next year they will have shops in all 50 states participating! The dates this year ran from July 1 through October 31. If you are the first to bring a quilt into one of the participating shops with at least 8 rows using patterns from 8 different shops, then you win a bundle of 25 fat quarters, and if your quilt has a row from that particular shop that you turn your quilt into, you win a bonus prize from that shop. It sounds like fun doesn't it?
You can find out more about the Row by Row Experience at:
http://www.rowbyrowexperience.com
And you can find out more about Quilted Ewe at:
She has made all kinds of little creatures and ornaments out of the wool roving. When you check out her website, go to the gallery and you will see a lot more. Look at the bear's head in this picture - all wool roving!
This was a very fun store to visit! Next summer I am definitely going to check out the Row by Row Experience and see what shops are participating where I will be traveling. It sounds like a lot of fun.
Thanks to Mike for finding this store and taking me there, and of course for patiently waiting....
Have a great day!!
