Embroidery Guild
This morning I went to the Desert West Embroidery Guild meeting. It is always a fun and interesting meeting. I never knew there were SO many different types of embroidery! If you live in or near Grand Junction, there is a display of several types of embroidery (pieces made by members of the guild) at the library on 5th and Grand during the month of August. On August 23rd, also at the library, there will be be several demo tables set up, with members demonstrating the different types of embroidery. That evening there will be a lecture from 6-7 PM. Should be a fun and enlightening event!
Here are some pictures from Show and Tell - this quilt was brought in by Laura, who used to do quilt restoration. She purchased this quilt and it was made in the early to mid 1800's!
Love this cute little owl in the frame that has doors that open up! So cute...
Also big news in Grand Junction is the opening of a new quilt store, Inspiration Fabrics! It was scheduled to open today and it is located in this strip mall right behind TJMax, off of 25 Road. I stopped by, of course, and they do have several tables of fabrics discounted at 50% off, but the store itself isn't set up yet. It looks like it will be a nice big store, with a nice big classroom! Best of luck to them - we can always use more inspiration!
