Class Begins

After our trip to the Museum of International Folk Art, our class began!  This class was all about learning to design our own pieces.  We were to get inspiration from the museum and come back ready to dig in.  I went with an open mind to the museum, but I also came from home with an idea in mind - simply because I kind of needed to know what supplies to pack!
Although, these first two photos show that Sue also came prepared to supply anything that we forgot, or simply didn't know to pack!  Mmm... goodies galore!

Our class was held at the Hilton, where we were all staying and the space was wondering!  We each had our own, fairly large table!

This is Sue's demonstration table.  Most of the time, when she was demonstrating, our chairs were pulled up around the table.

You can also see the design walls placed around the room, AND they provided us each with a small table light if we needed one.

This is my space - as I'm just getting started.  In Sue's design process we start with layering the background, usually just for adding texture, not color.  That is what I'm doing in the photo above.  Tomorrow I will share photos of my piece in various stages of progress 😊

In the photo below are two of my new friends - Lynn from Oregon and Meg from Canada.  We had lots of time to talk and laugh and get to know one another better.  Pat sat across from me, and she was a lot of fun too (from Michigan).

How are you filling YOUR time?  I thought I would be getting a lot more done than I am.  I started off good, but I've let the stress get to me a little bit the last couple of days.
Back to the sewing room tomorrow!
Stay healthy and finish those UFO's!
