Another Finish!!

Day 22 on the circle challenge #Instastitchwithsue.  Today is a little kitty cat.  I almost didn't do it - it's not my favorite 😬. When the cat appeared in the window of the Homegrown quilt, I changed mine to a little dog (pictured below).  I thought about doing the little dog again today, but we still have 68 more circles left to do and maybe Sue will stitch a little dog for one of those circles!  Plus, when I started this, I challenged myself to do these circles exactly as she is doing them, so I could learn - my main objective.  So here is my cat - still not my favorite, but I did it!  I have to say though - the little woven picot ears turned out pretty nicely 😊.

The quarantine is very difficult in many aspects, but I have to admit that I'm finally enjoying the extra time I have to work on and finish up some projects!  Welcome to the North Pole has been in the works for many months.  It is an old Piece 'o Cake pattern and I made it "Sue Spargo style", using wool for the background and a combination of wool and cottons for the hand appliqué, plus of course, a lot of embellishing!  I was very nervous about quilting it, because I have struggled quilting wool quilts, but I took it slow and easy (because hey, I have the time!) and am very happy with the results! I quilted a bit more in the appliqué than I did in the previous wool quilts I've quilted and am much happier with the way that turned out.  It took more time, and a lot of thread changes but I believe the results were worth the effort.  I got several tips from Becky in the class I took in Santa Fe too, about quilting wool quilts that really helped me tremendously.  A big thank you to her!
Enjoy the pictures!  I may make a little video so I can get up close a little better and explain some of the embellishments more.  This quilt was truly a pleasure to make from start to finish ❤️.

I changed the reindeer from the original pattern to some I liked better,
and I changed the little Santa in the photo below, also to one I thought was cuter.

I used all fabrics from my stash, even the wool, although I did have to buy a couple of larger pieces for the background because I didn't have quite enough navy blues.

I changed the reindeer across the top too.

Can you believe I also had this piece of Santa Claus fabric in my stash that
was exactly the right size for the backing??
My husband suggested the little touch of green flange just inside the binding - great idea!

There it is!  It's nice to have finished it, and to be happy with it! 😊❤️
Sometimes it takes me awhile to be happy with a quilt once I've finished it.
I'd love to hear what you all are working on!
I've also been following Alex Andrerson's  Quilter Quarantine videos - pretty funny!
