In Cornwall we visited the Botallack Mine, which is in the St. Just Mining District. It is one of the most ancient hard-rock tin and copper mining areas in Cornwall.  Copper and Tin have been mined here since at least the mid-1700's.  Miners have even sunk shafts and driven levels out beneath the ocean bed.  These are the world famous submarine mines.

The National Trust bought and restored the Count House in 1995 and acquired the Botallack Cliffs in 2000.  Since then there has been an on-going program of safety, access and conservations works.

This area along the coast was peaceful and beautiful.  There weren't a lot of people there and we walked all along the trails, taking pictures and enjoying the scenery.  We bought a pasty and a brownie in The Count House (Visitor's Center) and split that for lunch.  It was really one of my favorite stops.

And of course if you're a Poldark fan you will recognize the mines and the scenery!  Season 4 starts on September 30th here in the USA, and they just started filming Season 5 in Cornwall this month!
