Monday I ran into the mall for one gift! Sadly I've done even more of my shopping online this year, just to stay out of the stores since our county is in the Red Zone for the pandemic. But, I knew what I needed, where to get it and that it would only take 10-15 minutes. As I walked by the Clock Court in our mall however, there sat the saddest looking Santa I've ever seen, all alone, enclosed in plexiglass. No one was visiting him 😢, and as I hurried by, he gave me a sad little wave. There is 2020 in a nutshell - Santa enclosed in Plexiglass...
Just a day later, my daughter sent me this picture of my granddaughter visiting the Plexiglass Santa at Cabella's. They both look fairly happy, so apparently not all is lost! 😊❤️
And she got to deliver her letter to Santa in the special delivery box. Since you can make an appointment to go see Santa at Cabella's, my daughter said there was no one there either.
So, the silver lining - no long lines!
And, in case you missed it, Ireland has declared Santa an essential worker! The quarantine doesn't apply to him 😅.
"It's okay, kids, the coronavirus won't keep Father Christmas at bay — not in Ireland, at least. Self-quarantine rules will not apply to Jolly Old Saint Nick, Ireland's top diplomat confirmed on Thursday, seeking to allay any fears that might be fueling anxiety in children who've had plenty to worry about this year.
"We have been working on the Santa Claus issue for a number of weeks," Foreign Minister Simon Coveney said on the floor of the Irish parliament, without so much as a twinkle in his eye. "It's important to say to all children in the country that we regard Santa Claus' travels as essential travel for essential purposes, and therefore he is exempt from the need to self-quarantine for 14 days and should able to come in and out of Irish airspace, and indeed in and out of Irish homes, without having to restrict his movements."
If you would like to see the video announcement, go to this link and scroll down to the FB post from Foreign Minister Simon Coveney. It's a very official announcement.
Last but not least, my daughter Megan finished all twelve of her little holiday wool wall hangings!!
Aren't they SO cute???? 👏❤️
I hope you're having a great week! Stay Merry and Bright! 🎅🏼🎄
