Meeker Classic Sheepdog Championship Trials

It was a beautiful week in Meeker, CO for the Sheepdog Trials!  We went over on Friday and had a really nice day.  It's so fascinating to watch the handlers and their dogs work these, sometimes crazy, sheep. I could have sat there all day and watched and we did watch for quite awhile, but when we started getting too hot we headed over to the quilt show - more on that tomorrow!

They had some fun booths, a wool demonstration, and some delicious food truck options too.  We ate a yummy lunch there 😋

I found the dogs' names interesting.  They had very human names like: Carl, Nel, Rey, Maggie, Finn, Jake, Grace, Erin, Blake, Fern, Meg..... No Spots or Rovers here!  I think the one pictured above is Nancy with her dog Rey.  After their 13 minute run and herding the sheep, the dogs would go and jump into a little kiddie pool.  They were working really hard!

It was a fun time!  Looking forward to going again next year! 😊
