Year Word

Last summer I took an online Smart Phone photography class with Ricky Tims and thoroughly enjoyed it. Because I took that class, I had the chance to sign up for the 2021 Smart Phone Challenges class.  This class will give us a new challenge every week.  We have a forum where we can post the photos and some will be picked for critique.  Everyone has a chance to comment and learn from each other's photos as well.  The first challenge this week was Year Word.  This has been a "thing" for a few years now, where you pick a word to focus on throughout the year, such as Create, Embrace, Endure, Persevere.... etc.

For the Photo Challenge, we were supposed to choose a Year Word and represent it in a picture.  I recently read a talk that I really liked by Becky Craven called Keep the Change:

https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2020/10/32craven?lang=eng

In the talk she says, "Our daily choices will either help or hinder our progress. Small but steady, deliberate changes will help us improve. Do not become discouraged. Change is a lifelong process."

I like the idea of small and steady progress in order to improve anything we want to change in our lives.  If you want to get better at playing an instrument or machine quilting, if you want to lose weight ✋, if you want to be more creative, small and steady changes will help us accomplish worthwhile goals. In her talk she mentioned "keep the change", so once we've made changes for the better, we need to hold onto those changes and keep them in our lives.

So, having said all that, my Year Word is CHANGE, and this is my photo representation!

What is your Year Word??
